Under LEOSA, what type of identification is required?

Passport

Photo ID from the agency

Under LEOSA, a person who qualifies as a current or former law enforcement officer must carry photographic identification issued by the agency that employed them (or last employed them). This agency-issued photo ID proves their status as a law enforcement officer and verifies they’re authorized to carry under LEOSA across jurisdictions. Passports or driver’s licenses don’t establish that officer status, and requiring no ID would miss that essential verification. So the agency’s photo ID is the identification LEOSA expects. (Note: other LEOSA requirements include proof of training and status, but the identification itself must be agency-issued with a photo.)

Driver's license

No ID required
